Concerns

What’s bothering you?
Let’s start there.

Most patients don’t arrive thinking about treatments — they arrive thinking about a specific concern. Tired-looking eyes. Hair that’s thinning. Skin that never quite feels smooth. Below are the eight concerns I’m asked about most often, each with a dedicated page explaining how it’s approached at one or both of my Manchester clinics.

From concern to plan

How a concern
becomes a plan.

The patient’s words come first. The treatment names come last. That order matters — it’s why concerns get their own section on this site.

Most aesthetic clinics organise their websites around treatment names: “anti-wrinkle injections,” “dermal fillers,” “microneedling.” That works if you already know what you want. It doesn’t work for the patients who arrive saying “I look more tired than I feel” or “my hair just isn’t what it used to be.” Those concerns don’t map cleanly to a single treatment — they require a proper medical assessment first.

This section is built differently. Each page below starts with a concern, in plain language, and explains how that concern is medically assessed, which pathways are typically appropriate, and what realistic outcomes look like. The treatments themselves are detailed in the Treatments section — here, the focus is on understanding the concern itself.

The right place to start is rarely “what treatment do I need?” — it’s “what is actually bothering me, and what’s the calmest, most evidence-based way to address it?”

Each concern is offered at one or both of my Manchester clinics. The location is noted on each page, with practical information about getting there. Wherever you book, the consultation and the medical approach are identical.

The eight concerns

What patients ask me about most.

i.

Tired-looking eyes & dark circles

The most common reason for a first consultation. The under-eye area is delicate and easily mistreated — here it’s assessed properly, with the right combination of skin quality, tear-trough work, and lifestyle review where relevant.

ii.

Facial volume loss & gauntness

The face that looks “thinner than I feel” — often after weight loss, illness, or natural ageing. Approached anatomically with a focus on restoring structure rather than adding volume for its own sake.

iii.

Lines, wrinkles & expression marks

Frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet, perioral lines — all assessed with the muscle anatomy in mind, with a clear plan that respects natural facial movement and never aims for the frozen look.

iv.

Uneven texture, open pores & acne scarring

Enlarged pores, rough patches, congestion, or post-acne scarring — texture that shows under make-up and in certain light. Assessed and treated gradually with medical-grade resurfacing, regeneration, and prescription home care — layered correctly, never piled on.

v.

Hair thinning & shedding

Often hormonal, stress-related, or post-illness — and frequently overlooked at routine appointments. Investigated medically before any treatment is suggested, with regenerative options where appropriate and honest signposting where they aren’t.

vi.

Dull, dehydrated & crepey skin

For skin that looks flat, dry, or crepey — that’s lost its bounce and glow despite a careful routine. We work out what your skin is actually lacking, and in what order to address it, rather than reaching for a treatment by name.

vii.

Natural-looking lip enhancement

The opposite of the over-filled look. Conservative, anatomical lip work for patients who want softer, hydrated, balanced lips — not bigger ones. Always with the option to do less, or nothing at all.

viii.

Sun damage & pigmentation

Melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, age spots, photoageing — concerns that respond to a structured, medical-grade routine over months. The Obagi Nu-Derm pathway is the foundation, with daily SPF as the non-negotiable.

How it works

Three steps to a clear plan

1

Consultation

30–45 minute medical assessment of facial anatomy, skin health, hair concerns and wellbeing.

2

Plan

A personalised pathway across one or more of the four areas — or none, if treatment isn’t appropriate.

3

Treatment

Carried out only when you’re ready, with clear expectations of what will change and what won’t.

No sales team. No pressure. No package upsells. Just a doctor, a plan, and the time to get it right.

A promise

I treat aesthetic medicine as an extension of holistic patient care — not as a beauty service. If a treatment isn’t right for you, I’ll tell you so.
